PULLMAN, WA—As of October 5, 2023, the City of Pullman has successfully transitioned to its traditional process of hauling biosolids locally to a farmer’s field. This is thanks to the recent permission granted by the Washington State Department of Ecology (DOE). However, continued hauling will be contingent upon weather conditions that affect the local farming site.

PULLMAN, WA—As the first year of the newly established Outdoor Irrigation Season comes to an end, residents are reminded that the season will conclude as scheduled on September 30, 2023. The Pullman City Code Chapter 10B for Water Conservation outlines the Outdoor Irrigation Season as June 1 through September 30 annually, unless otherwise declared by the Public Works Director or their designee.

Project Downtown Street Trees Update, Project Downtown Will Be Proceeding to Bid

PULLMAN, WA— Project Downtown Pullman has been in process since 2019 and will be sent out to bid in mid-October. Funded by American Rescue Plan (ARPA) monies the city received, the $9 million project has followed a thorough planning and design phase conducted by Welch Comer, the contracted engineering and design firm with numerous years of municipal construction and design project experience. Community input and engagement during the process included an online survey, focus groups and a Project Downtown Steering Committee comprised of downtown business owners and community leaders. Starting in November 2022, the design of the planned infrastructure and revitalization project was presented to Pullman City Council at the 30, 60 and 90 percent phase. These meetings were open to the public for comment.

Kamiaken Water Line Replacement Causes Olsen Street Closure

PULLMAN, WA—The City of Pullman will be replacing the water line that was damaged in April of this year near Kamiaken Street in the Palouse River. The replacement water line will be constructed via direction boring through rock under the river, going from NE Olsen Street to the north side of the Kamiaken Street train trestle. The installation will begin on July 24 and will take three to four weeks, ending in mid-August.
